Rev. Gunn was ordained an Itinerant Deacon in the AME church in 1982, and ordained an Itinerant Elder in the AME church in 1984. Rev. Gunn graduated from American College in 1988 and has a honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from American College.

Rev. Gunn has previously pastored St. Paul (Irvington, KY), Trinity (Louisville, KY), Bethel (Campbellsville, KY), St. James (Louisville, KY), St. Paul (Louisville, KY), Bethel (Shelbyville, KY), St. John (Louisville, KY), St. James (Mayfield, KY), Burks Chapel (Paducah, KY), and St. James AME Church, (Covington, KY). Rev. Gunn is currently the proud Pastor of Asbury Chapel AME Church Louisville, KY. He is also a past President of AME Ministerial Fellowship of Louisville.

Rev. Gunn served 10 yrs in the military, serving in Germany, Vietnam, and Alaska.

Rev. Gunn retired from CSX Railroad after 34 years as an Engineer, he also served as the chaplain for CSX for 25 years.

Rev. Gunn serves on the Board of Minority Affairs at Indiana University and on the Indiana Governors Drug Task Force.

Rev. Gunn is the former NAACP President for New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana. He is a former President of West Louisville Communities Ministries, a organization that helps people to buy food, pay rent and get their medicine. Rev. Gunn also volunteers to deliver meals on wheels.

Rev. Gunn is happily married to Merilyn Gunn and between them they have eight children and fifteen grand children.
